May 29, 2007

(Flint, Michigan) - Bishop International Airport is pleased to announce the start of nonstop jet service to Dallas - Ft. Worth on American Eagle/American Airlines from Flint. Service starts September 5, 2007. The aircraft to be utilized for the flight will be the CRJ-700, 70 seat jet.

"American Eagle's Chicago O'Hare service has been so popular, that adding nonstop service to their Dallas - Ft. Worth hub seemed a natural, and a terrific way for our passengers to increase their options to fly to Dallas, Mexico and the West Coast" stated Michael P. Manley, Bishop International Airport Authority's chairperson of the board.

Dallas - Ft. Worth is actually the airport's 5th most popular destination. Nonstop flights to this region will be very beneficial to the business market. Archie Bailey, Genesee County Commissioner is thrilled with the news, "I see this as a great opportunity for expanding the already outstanding services of Bishop International Airport."

Oakland County Executive, L. Brooks Patterson sees the new route as a boon for their travelers as well: "Our region has an impressive amount of international travel. Almost 650 foreign owned firms make Oakland County their home. Mexico is currently our largest trading partner, with a 3-year growth rate of 139.3 percent.
